Curated UK marketplace · Founding-listing stage

Used coffee gear, with the awkward questions already asked.

Buyers need more than a polished photograph. Every published listing will lead with the exact model, asking-price context, service evidence, known faults and a viewing checklist.

01

Contact stays private

Buyer enquiries use a protected introduction route. Personal email addresses and full home addresses do not appear in listings.

02

Evidence stays labelled

Seller-declared condition, supplied documents and any future independent inspection are different things—and will be presented that way.

03

Nothing publishes itself

Every founding submission enters a manual review queue. No inventory, review or “verified” badge is invented to make the marketplace look busy.

Founding catalogue

We’re opening with sellers, not placeholder stock.

The public catalogue will appear as the first complete listings pass review. Founding sellers pay no listing fee and receive the same evidence standard as later listings.

Espresso, filter and single-dose

Burr condition, motor sound, adjustment and retention need their own evidence—not the machine checklist.

How a founding listing works

Submit once. Prove what matters. Publish clearly.

  1. 01

    Describe

Exact model, price, age, location, condition, faults and handover method.

  2. 02

    Evidence

Original dated photographs, accessories, model plate and optional service documents.

  3. 03

    Review

We check completeness, wording and price context without pretending to inspect the machine.

  4. 04

    Introduce

Relevant buyers contact the seller without either party’s email being exposed publicly.

Founding seller submission

List with the details buyers actually need.

Submissions are reviewed manually. Nothing is published automatically, and your contact details remain private.

Before money changes hands

A listing is not a safety certificate.

Match the identity

Confirm the model code, generation and serial details against the listing and manufacturer record.

Cold-start it

Test heat-up, grinder, brew, water, steam, rinsing and warnings from genuinely cold—not after a seller’s prepared demonstration.

Keep payment traceable

Never send a pressured deposit, move to an unrelated payment route or rely on a screenshot as proof.

Use the Deal Checker

Price missing evidence, age, repair risk and accessories before deciding the maximum offer.

Marketplace questions

The boundaries are part of the product.

Does Home Coffee Index sell the used machine?+

No. Home Coffee Index publishes curated seller listings and introduces interested buyers. The seller remains responsible for the item, description, demonstration, payment and handover.

Are used machines inspected by Home Coffee Index?+

Not unless a future listing explicitly says that an independent inspection took place and names its scope. Seller declarations, submitted documents and editorial checks remain separately labelled.

Does Home Coffee Index hold buyer payments?+

No. The founding marketplace does not process payments, hold deposits or provide escrow. Buyers should inspect the exact machine, use traceable payment and never pay under pressure.

What makes a listing publishable?+

The exact model, realistic asking price, honest condition, known faults, broad collection area and original photographic evidence must be supplied. Incomplete or misleading submissions are not published.

Are founding listings free?+

Yes. There is no founding-listing fee. Any future paid placement will be visibly labelled and will not change the evidence requirements or editorial Deal Checker result.
